- The Westin Mina Seyahi to Host World’s Richest Marathon -
Dubai (UAE): The 2009 Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon will have a brand new race route starting and finishing at The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina, the new headquarters for the world’s richest athletics event.
To be staged on January 16, the US$2 million race over the classic 42km, 195m marathon distance will see the field – led by world record holder Haile Gebrselassie – tackle an “out and back” course from the new HQ with the turn to be made at the towering UAE flag at Union House.

‘Al Aqah Fun Day’ hosted by Le Meridien with proceeds going to local charity
Fujairah, United Arab Emirates: On December 02 Le Méridien Al Aqah will transform into a playground of fun and excitement with its fantastic fun day out for all the family offering a variety of action packed games for children and adults alike.
Expected to attract families from the local area and further a field, a wide range of fun events are planned for the day, starting at 12 noon and continuing until 8pm. The aim of the day is to not only bring families closer together but also to raise money for charity where this year all proceeds will go to the Angel appeal for Seafarers Support boat and a Fujairah charity association. Internationally-acclaimed angler Martin James to teach week long academy at the East Coast Resort
Fujairah, United Arab Emirates -To cater to the increasing number of leisure tourists and water sports enthusiasts, Le Méridien Al Aqah Beach Resort will hold its fourth fly-fishing academy from December 14 to 21, 2008.
Fly fishing as a sport is believed to have originated as early as the second century, but the past 30 years have seen an increase in the popularity of salt-water fly fishing and the favorable weather conditions in Fujairah during autumn and winter make it an ideal venue for fly fishing.
